Hollow Cathode Lamps

A Hollow Cathode lamp is an ideal source of spectral line designed for use in Atomic Absorption Instruments (AAS). The Hollow Cathode Lamp consists of a glass tube containing a cylindrical cathode with element of choice, which when applying voltage through the anode, the inert filler gas is ionized creating plasma from the gas and sputtering the atoms of the cathode, generating a sharp wavelength for the element of choice.

Hollow Cathode lamps (HCL's) are available in 2 standard sizes, 1.5 inch (37mm) for most instrument manufacturers and 2 inch (51mm) for Perkin Elmer instruments. They are available in single and multi-element lamps, non-coded and coded version as a direct replacement lamp for AAS Atomic Absorption Spectrometers.

Coded HCL's are available for Agilent / Varian, GBC Scientific and Thermo Fisher / Unicam Instruments and data coded replacement lamps for Perkin Elmer Aanalyst range of spectrometers. Hollow Cathode Lamp with Coded recognition, allows the instrument to automatically identify the lamp element.
